Buffalo Talk
On May 16th, 2024 we had a wonderful talk by Jason Baldes, one of the founders of the Wind River Tribal Buffalo Initiative.
At the Dennison we learned about the history of buffalo in the badlands and the efforts being undertaken to restore them to their native land. Jason was a dynamic speaker and a great storyteller as well. He met earlier in the day with Dubois 5th and 6th graders and enthralled them with his tales and knowledge.
The Wind River Tribal Buffalo Initiative is Restoring our Connection with the Buffalo:
We are on a mission to restore conservation Buffalo through land rematriation, community revitalization, and youth education. Our vision is thousands of Buffalo on tens of thousands of acres, protected under Tribal law as wildlife.
